Hey everybody! Let's give a warm welcome to our newest member: https://pokemonvalor.rpg-board.net/u488!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact an administrator or support mod. (See staff list)

Q: I read that members can get a second account for another character. I don't want to wait until I have 300 posts for another character, can somebody please give me permission to make another one right now?
A: No. The answer will almost always be "no". The only way you'd get special permission for something like that is if you're a loyal and hardworking (or at the very least, respectful) member of the forum and deserve a little something extra. But in general it would be unfair to others who've worked hard towards those required 300 posts.

Q: I was just wondering if we have to find and use HM's in order to fly to somewhere far away (FLY), surf in the water (SURF), light up dark caves (FLASH), move rocks (STRENGTH), etc.
A: Nope. You can do all of those things in other ways. Be creative. For fly & surf, you just need Pokèmon that are capable of flying or swimming. (But they also need to be strong enough to support your weight, too!) For Flash, some Pokèmon can naturally light the way. For instance, the light at the end of a Charmander's tail. Be creative, but be as realistic as possible. Even if this is a fantasy RP!

Q: I need a mod, NOW! What can I do to get a mod's attention?
A: A fair question. Sometimes mods may not notice a topic, and after a while it'll kind of just get dusted over and forgotten. Here's what you can do- there's a thread in the support section; "MOD ME." Go there (read the rules first,) and post the link to the thread that needs modding. Don't hound staff members in the chat box to mod you! It's annoying, and frustrating: especially if we're already doing something else. And unless a mod asks for a link: absolutely do not post one in the chat box.

Q: I can't post in a certain forum for some reason. Why not? What can I do to post there?
A: Here's the thing. There are some forums on the site that restrict access to certain groups and/or members. It's pretty just to keep new members from spamming- or to keep some confused people from posting in the wrong place at the wrong time. You're most likely trying to post in an RP location when your character hasn't been approved yet. In which case, you need to wait until somebody reviews your application- and possibly edit it to their liking.

Q: Is it possible for normal members to become important people- like gym leaders, or elite four? Maybe even the champion?
A: Well obviously, only the members who work really hard will ever get that honour. As for the above, you need to actually defeat all of the current gym leaders in order to become one yourself. Same for the E4- you need to defeat at least two of them to get a chance to become one. And of course, the champion needs to be beaten before you can replace him/her. So just work hard, and with at least 2 administrators' approvals, you can become a very influential figure on Valor.

Q: I think that one of the staff members aren't doing their job properly. What do I do?
A: Well, it depends on who exactly said staff member is. If it's a mod or a MIT, feel free to report any problems you've been having with them to one of the administrators. Preferably one in charge of enforcing the rules, demotions, etc. If you're actually having a problem with one of the administrators- again- report it to another administrator. They'll take it from there, and fix the problem to the best of their ability. Never confront a staff member alone! And keep it civil if you do end up talking about whatever is on your mind. Remember to follow the site rules; staff members deserve respect.

Q: I'm making a character but I don't know which Pokèmon I'm allowed to start off with.
A: There's two threads in "Character Creation" you should look at. One being "STARTER POKEMON FOR THE REGION", and the other: "COMMON ENCOUNTERS LIST". You can start out with any one of the Pokèmon listed on either of those lists. But only one.

Q: How can I become a staff member?
A: Apply! There's a thread called "STAFF APPLICATIONS" in the Announcements forum. Just follow the instructions and you can become a MIT or a Mod. Only senior staff members can get promoted to a higher position though; such as global mod or administrator.
