As Mysterion, Viper, & Stary got off the boat from the beach at Amethius Island, he knew that before he wouid go fight the first gym he would have to get another pokemon to help him out. He turned to Viper and Stary saying, "Ok lets go find us another friend to help us out." They wondered the meadow for a few hours and was unable to find any pokemon, so he decided they would camp out, but as he was sleeping, he was awoken by a brush in the bushes of something mysteries.

Standing next to you- or rather on top of you, is a young adolescent, not much older than the age of twelve by the look of it. The figure's facial features appear slightly androgynous, though anyone could tell that they were standing in front of a male. Ontop of his scalp, completely covering his hair was a white cap, turned backwards, appearing worn, unlike the rest of the boy's cloth. There is a mark on the cap, appearing to be a crest- you recognize it as a pokemon league official hat; it's limited addition of course. On top of the boy, is a silver eevee.

Breaking the silence, the boy opens his mouth to say, "I'm sorry mister, but I was here first."

"I'm sorry kid, but I'm not leaving this spot anytime soon," said Mysterion. He than stared into Eevee and noticed it's aura was almost darkish. "Hmm well kid here is what I have to offer you. Either you could leave on your own, you can stay here and not bother me, or we can battle each other for this territory. It is your choice completly kid." He than looked at Viper and Stary and saw them both nod. Now he waited in anticipation of the kid's answer.

He didn't want to go- after all, he left his back pack somewhere in the area, and he wasn't just going to forget it. Still, he had already lost his first trainer battle to another beginner. This guy looks slightly more experienced. Still green, as far as the boy could tell, but his cloth still have a bit of grime. Well, maybe this battle would redeem him.

"Alright! Challenge accepted!" The boy exclaims. "Now", he says, "where should we have our battle? The name's Ralph by the way." He reaches his hand out gesturing a hand-shake. The eevee on top of him squeels. Ralph smiles and declares, "and this little guy's John."

"Ok Ralph. Everyone calls me Mysterion," said Mysterion. He than pointed at Viper and Stary. "And these are Viper and Stary." He just pushed Ralph's hand away however. He than scoped the surrounding area and noticed a good field with few trees. He pointed in that direction and said, "We can have our battle there." After having said that, he jumped from tree to tree to get to the area while Viper followed in the trees and Stary followed on the ground.

"Mysterion," Ralph tries to hold off his giggles, "did your mom give you that name? It sounds ridiculous!" He tried not to disrespect the other trainer, but the words just flew from his mouth. He then turned over to walk toward their battle ground- an area surrounded in trees. If 'Mysterion' was a good strategist, than no doubt he'd have grass type pokemon to have chosen such a place. Unfortunately, Ralph was not a good strategist, nor was he a very good trainer, and so he accepted the battle, over confident of himself.

Standing at the far side of the clearing, Ralph clutched a pokeball in his hand. His silver eevee stood at his side. Near where the other trainer was, stood the shadow of two pokemon. Either it was too dark to see them, Ralph was too much of a novice to recognize them, or the other roleplayer didn't do a very good job describing his pokemon. This wouldn't help Ralph in the slightest, as he wouldn't know which types to use- then again, he only had two pokemon.

Taking the ball from his pocket, Ralph makes an over hand toss, releasing a pokemon with a flash of red light. A noise, somewhat akin to a bark could be heard- Ralph had sent out his growlithe.

"Hmmm a Growlithe," said Mysterion. "The Fire-type Puppy Pokemon. Well than I guess your up Stary." A five pointed, star shaped pokemon appeared from the shadows showing it was a Staryu. "Oh yeah and Ralph, by the way, my parents died at sea when I was very young." Mysterion jumped up into the tree after to get a better view of the battle. As he observed the battlefield he noticed two important things; there was one tree in the center and that there were smaller trees on the edge of the field. "Now Stary use your Water Gun on Growlithe, but aim towards it's side." He knew Growlithe was weak to water-type moves, but knew his plan would probably not work.

Without even a command from its trainer, growlithe dived into the ground using its dig attack. Ralph stood there contemplating. Aren't pokemon supposed to listen to their trainers? Oh well, Ralph spent hours trying to teach growlithe the move. At least it gets some good use. "Sorry to hear that, Bruce Wayne", Ralph smirked. Wait- he did it again. Hmm... maybe he needs to buy some duct tape later to keep his mouth shut. Then again; how would he be able to train his pokemon?

Strangely enough, 'Mysterion' didn't seem to unhappy that his parents were dead. Actually, he answered pretty nonchalantly. Ralph began to think about what would happen if he lost his parents. What if they both died while he was catching pokemon? No, he's in a battle. Ralph shook his head and regained his composure. "Now, come out of the ground and use bite attack!" Growlithe entered Stary's vicinity, closing in for the kill.

Stary sensed the Bite was coming and built up it's defense by using Harden. The bite caused some minor damage, but Stary just nudged the damage off. Mysterion said, "Now Stary use Water Gun on Growlithe." He than switched his language to Pokemon and said, "Star star staryu." Staryu knew that this meant to shoot a Water Gun down the hole Growlithe digs. He smirked since he noticed Ralph did not have a good connection with his Pokemon while Mysterion did have a good connection.

Mysterion appeared a little over confident. Was it something that Ralph did? While the water gun attack was made, Ralph's growlithe could not be seen- but wait, there's a third hole in the ground. Ralph smiled, seeing how his growlithe became so good at digging. He had only wished he taught John the same thing. Oh well, growlithe would have to do. After all, he was too much of a man to back out of a challenge, or take his pokemon out.

Through the first hole, growlith popped its head up. It appears to have dug into the main tunnel from the third. His growlithe let up a bark, wagging its tail. Ember seemed like a good idea- after all, Ralph was in the mood for some fried fish. "Growlithe, use ember!"

Mysterion knew that this was his opening. He turned to were Stary was and saw no hole close by, so he determined Growlithe would dig a hole up close by and launch it's ember from there. This Mysterion knew would actually benefit him. He stared at Stary and said, "Ok Stary use your Water Gun to douse out the Ember, but use it while your are spinning so that it sprays in a whole circular motion." He knew Growlithe would take serious damage from this when it hit it's target.

While flames shot from the growlithe's mouth it was also running closert to the staryu, building up flames. However, as the water shot forth, the growlithe had no choice but to act on instinct. It jumped several feet into the air, fire still coming out of its canine jaws, stopping not long after. The jump was not completely straight though. On instinct, the growlithe couldn't control which direction it would go, and so it flew close to the staryu, almost touching the jet of water, but not really.

Its trainer, Ralph saw this as a great opportunity, and with stars in his eyes, declared "use bite attack!" The trainer pointed his index finger forward, holding his other arm back in a fist as though making a victory pose. On the inside, he was smiling.

Mysterion knew that Ralph's overconfidence would be his outdoing. He told Stary, "Ok take the bite attack head on." Stary took it without flinching. Mysterion than focused on a rock and saw a great opening. He than said, "Now Stary fire your water gun attack at Growltihe." He knew Growlithe would use dig so than he said in Pokemon language, "Once Growlithe digs use water gun on the rock so that it rebounds on Growlithe." Mysterion was certain Stary was near it's limit, so this attack would have to land.

"Hold it a bit longer! Bite harder if it hits you- it makes it hurt less!" Ralph cried to his pokemon. While the Staryu was attacking, Ralph's growlithe continued its bite attack. The more the staryu hits, the harder growlithe would bite, until a rocky chunk falls off- or whatever a staryu is supposed to be made of.

Ralph continued to bite his fingers, watching as his opponent said something he couldn't quite understand. Something tells him that it's mary sueish, but he'll let it slide- for now.

With the chunk having fallen off and Stary free from Growlithe's clutches, Mysterion knew this would be his final attempt before Stary fainted, so he yelled out, "Now fire your Water Gun at the chunk to launch it into Growlithe than fire another Water Gun attack at the startled Growlithe." He anticipated that something again would cause his plans to fail to this trainer who couldn't even control his Growlithe which made Mysterion disgusted.
